Refutation: A Few More Arguments

Assalamu ‘Alaikum Warahmat Allah Wabarakatuh,

In this post you will find some of the basic arguments and proofs that can be relied upon with regards to various issues of contention between Ahmadi Muslims and non-Ahmadi Muslims. Each argument is referenced with the original source and should empower your arguments. These are just some of the arguments and each point can be built upon quite easily. Please add any further arguments or proofs that you have to other disputed issues which are not listed here in the comments below and I will add them. I do not want to make it too complicated, so please try to suggest short and simple answers that anyone could grasp and then apply.

Jazak Allah

Hadrat Jesus (‘alayhi al-salam) Passed Away

  • In the ”Holy Qur’an,” Hadrat Jesus (‘alayhi al-salam) is recorded as having said ”…Thou didst cause me to die…” (fa lamma tawaffaytani)
  • In the book ”Sahih al-Bukhari,” it is recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) delivered a sermon in which he said: ”O People, a number of the followers of my Ummah would be taken to hell, thereupon, I shall say, O my Lord, these are my Companions. Then I will be told, You do not know what they contrived after you. At that time, I shall say precisely what the righteous servant – Jesus son of Mary – said: ”And I was witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them.”
  • In the ”Holy Qur’an,” Almighty Allah said to Hadrat Jesus (‘alayhi al-salam): ”O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death…” (ya Isa, inni mutawaffika)
  • In the book ”Sahih al-Bukhari,” Hadrat Ibn ‘Abbas is recorded as having said that this reference means physical death.

The Imam al-Mahdi and Promised Messiah are the Same Person:

  • In the book ”Sunan b. Maja,” it is recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ”The Mahdi is none other than Jesus son of Mary.”

The Messiah Would Reach the Status of (Zilli / buruzi) Prophethood:

  • In the book ”Sunan Abu Daw’ud,” it is recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ”There is no Prophet between me and the Messiah to come who will surely appear among you and therefore when you see him accept him…”
  • Please read the book ”A Misconception Removed” to find out exactly what a Zilli / Buruzi Prophet is – this is very important. This specific type of Prophethood does not go against the ”Seal of Prophethood,” whereas other types of Prophethood would do. It is important that no one attributes something to the Promised Messiah (‘alayhi al-salam) which he himself argued against. In this regard, the opening words of of the Promised Messiah (‘alayhi al-salam) in this book are a timely reminder: ”Some members of my Jama‘at, who are less familiar with my claim and its supporting arguments, and who have neither had the chance to study my books in depth, nor have they spent enough time in my company to be fully informed, sometimes counter an objection raised by an opponent with an answer which is entirely contrary to the facts. Thus, notwithstanding their adherence to the truth, they have to
    suffer embarrassment.”

Instruction to Pledge Allegiance (Bay’ah) to the Imam Mahdi / Promised Messiah

  • In the book ”Sunan b. Maja,” regarding the Imam al-Mahdi, it is recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ”When you find the Mahdi perform the bay’ah at his hands. You must go to him even if you have to reach him across icebound mountains on your knees. He is the Mahdi and Caliph of Allah”
  • In the book ”Sunan Abu Daw’ud,” regarding the Messiah, it is recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ”…when you see him accept him…”
  • In the book ”Durr al-Manthur,” regarding the Messiah, it recorded that the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ”Whoever among you meets Jesus, son of Mary, should convey my greetings to him.”

Establishment of Khilafah

  • In the book ”Musnad Ahmad,” the Holy Prophet (sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) explained in a hadith that after his passing and the passing of his Rightly Guided Successors (radi Allahu ‘anhum) a long period would pass in which the institution of Khilafat would transform into a type of kingship and that then: ”…then will emerge the Caliphate based on the Prophetic standard of values…”

  1. Brilliant idea! I did a workshop with nasirat once who said they wanted a short booklet with punchy answers to common allegations to help them understand the answers for themselves and to use as a tool for tabligh – these bullet points are the perfect start! Jazakallah for this.
